One of my favorite things about being married...

...is that I get to know aspects of Eddie that no one else does and spend time with him in his comfort zone. I get to hang out with him when he's just himself. I love knowing how he likes his desk organized, what he likes to eat after work, the difference between his i'm-falling-asleep breathing and his yeah-i'm-out-cold breathing, knowing how he moves around when he's sleeping well enough to dodge getting rolled over or elbowed in the head (it's a work in progress).

A few other things that I love:

Being able to hear his husky i-just-woke-up voice in the morning.
Hugging him when he leaves for work and when he gets home. (I miss him a lot in the time in between)
Hearing him on the phone with his best buddy, laughing and talking about boy things in their Miami accents.
Watching him go crazy while he watches basketball.
Listening to him talk about things that he's excited or passionate about.
Using him as a human heating blanket. That man is super toasty all the time.
Being near as he wrestles with God.
Being with him and hearing his heart when things in life aren't going as hoped and when things are great.
Seeing him really smile. Oh, that man's smile kills me.
Just hanging out after work/class, playing on our phones and unwinding.
Knowing how he smells after he takes a shower and how cool his hair looks when it's wet.
Laying in bed at night, talking and listening to the rain together.
Knowing just where to poke him when he's sore from working out. (hehe)
Being able to differentiate between the facial expressions and noises that he makes to show emotion.
Being able to tell how long it's been since he last shaved based on how scratchy his face is when he gives me kisses.
Knowing the perfect hiding place and timing needed to jump out and actually scare him. (my success rate is rising)
And the list goes on...

I love getting to know this awesome man better and better. Can't imagine how well we'll know each other in five, ten, fifty years. Ahh!!

Thank you, Lord :)

Rainy Day

Spent most of the day at home, enjoying the rainy day and Eddie being off of work. And, of course, some tea. So lovely.

My Last First Day!

Today is my last first day of school before I complete my undergrad in May! Oh, happiness! This could very well be my last day of school ever, which makes me happy and a little sad at the same time. I feel like I've been in college for foooreeevvver and on one hand, I am quite ready to be done with it and to move on to new things. Very, very ready. On the other hand, though, I know I'll miss it once it's over. For the past 17 or 18 years (whoa), my primary job has been to learn and for the past year and a half I've been learning things that I actually want to know about...languages, politics, foreign countries. That will be missed. The homework, papers, and presentations? Not so much, haha. I also have no clue what the next step is after graduation as of yet, which makes me want to cling to college a little bit longer. It'll be interesting to see what comes next, though!

Here's a photo summary of our holiday break! Eddie got almost as much time off from work as I did from school. I adored being able to spend so much time with him for the past few weeks. I'd forgotten that it wasn't the usual until today when he returned to work and was gone all day. I quite missed him.

For Christmas, we stayed in town with my family. Some of my extended family came to town and the house was pretty full of people, in a cozy sort of way. I enjoyed having a few days of the familiar, of family traditions and the like. We got up Christmas morning, opened gifts, and had a huge breakfast. Got some good family time in, had a tea party, played lots of games, and just enjoyed being at home together for a few days. Happy birthday, Jesus :) Thank you that my family is so close to us!

A few days after Christmas I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed which was a little more intense and unpleasant than I'd imagined it would be. Bleh. But I had my wonderful husband to take care of me and my parents brought me flowers! Gotta love that. Plus I got to eat ice cream and jello for like three days.

The day after I had my teeth pulled, Eddie and I headed down to Miami to spend time with his family for New Years. It was so much fun! The two of us hadn't stayed in Miami for more than a weekend since we started dating and we went for over a week this time. We slept in a lot and hung out with family and friends, went to the beach, and ate a lot of Cuban food. Mmm. I got to see more of Miami than I had in the past and got to practice my Spanish listening skills since his family speaks more Spanish than English. I left feeling much closer to my new Rodriguez family :) I love them and am quite blessed to have them all.

All in all, it was a great break. It was good for us to get out of Atlanta for a while. I came back feeling refreshed and ready to take on the semester and life in general. Starting some better habits that will help me stay more organized and less overwhelmed. Hooray for that!
