Today was beautiful. Spent the morning by the river, soaking in the Lord's presence. I'm constantly amazed by the beauty in nature and I felt so overwhelmed by it today. Soft sunlight, a cool breeze, the rushing water...lizards, hummingbirds, butterflies, and a super friendly, slobbery black lab. Feeling so thankful for the tangible presence of God.

"The heaven's declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world." Psalm 19:1-4

Zen Tea

A few weeks ago, I found a Scoutmob deal for Zen Tea, a local Atlanta tea shop. I'd heard a lot about the shop so I was pretty excited to have an excuse to go. Here are a few photos from when my Mama and I drove over to check it out:
Almond scones, jam, and lemon curd

The shop is in a cute little brick building that sits across from the railroad tracks. It has a very casual, calm atmosphere and they have quite an extensive tea menu. I ordered Yerba Mate, an herbal tea from Latin America, which I'd never tasted hot. My mum got her favorite black tea and we sat, talking for over an hour, enjoying our snacks.

I love getting one-on-one time with my mom and making new memories with her. She knows me well and has so much wisdom that I sorely need. I'm so thankful for her and her influence in my life. (I'm also thankful that she doesn't mind me sleeping over when my man goes out of town and watches Jane Austen movies with me xo)IMG_6912

It was fun to go on a mini day-date with my mom. Mama time + a tea party makes for a pretty successful day!

Checking In: Life Lately

With summer ending and fall creeping in, life suddenly got significantly busier. Loved ones have returned to town, transitioning back into school and schedules. I am currently doing neither of those things but I've enjoyed being part of the transitions of others. Here's a quick list of the events of life lately:

- My sweet (newly engaged!) sister-in-law returned after being gone all summer
- My lovely middle sister got back from a summer long discipleship trip and moved into her new apartment
- We celebrated three birthdays! Happy birthday Dad, Maddie, and Travis!
- My (no longer) baby sister moved out to go to college!
- The hubs went on a week long business trip, which was not my favorite thing.
- Our church moved into a new building, leaving behind the building where Eddie and I met, dated, had our first kiss, got engaged, and were married. Bittersweet.
- This is the first semester that I'm not starting classes with everyone else. (This isn't really an event, more something to be noted)

Eddie and I are still trying to figure out what the next steps look like for us. I need a job, he's looking for a new job...it feels very much like we're in this weird limbo stage. Waiting on some things, trying to plan others. I know there is so much to look forward to but I'm not sure what to do right now or how to plan for a future that doesn't yet have a shape. I'm working to get involved in some new things, which is exciting. Praying a lot, trying to quiet myself and listen for the voice of the Lord. So thankful for his faithfulness.

That's all for now. I'm off to apply for another job or two!

Atlanta REBBL Launch

On Monday, Not For Sale had a launch party for their new business venture, REBBL, here in Atlanta. My mum and I got to go and it was fantastic! It was held at the Matchstic office downtown in a beautiful building. Exposed brick, skylights, and windows all over…I was in heaven.
As part of the launch, the Not For Sale team presented the product as well as the process that they’ve gone through in order to make it a reality. At the end, everyone got to sample some of the first bottles of REBBL outside of California. How exciting! The first flavor that they’ve created is Hibiscus Mint and it’s super tasty and refreshing! While REBBL was created in order to provide jobs in the Peruvian Amazon, the goal was also to make a high quality product that people would want to buy because they enjoy it, not just because the money is going to a good cause. They definitely succeeded!
At first sip, the most recognizable taste is that of peppermint and spearmint. The herbal tea flavor that comes next is a combination of mate and guayusa, herbal teas widely used throughout South America that contain a stimulant similar to caffeine minus the jittery aftereffect. The combination of these herbal teas with maca root, cat’s claw, and a handful of other ingredients provides a huge boost of vitamins and antioxidants. What Not For Sale has come up with really is ‘A True Tonic’ and I can’t wait until it’s actually in stores!
This awesome quote is painted on the wall of the Matchstic office, right next to a wall with a giant picture of the Cowardly Lion on it. Loved it!
IMG_6873 It’s so exciting and inspiring to see this project coming to fruition. The campaign to raise funding for REBBL has been extended until the end of the month and more launch parties are going to be held all across the country. Click here to learn more about the project and to find out how you can get your hands on one of the first four-packs of REBBL!

REBBL Update

A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about Not For Sale’s new business endeavor, a beverage company called REBBL. The purpose of this business is to create jobs and provide income for the people in the Peruvian Amazon, who in the past have been vulnerable to exploitation because of their inability to provide economically for their own community. Check out this video:

To jumpstart this project, Not For Sale needs to raise $150,000. Thus far they’ve raised over $90,000! The campaign will continue for five more days and anyone who contributes $35+ to the project will receive one of the first ever four-packs of REBBL. I’m pretty excited to be able to taste it soon!

If you haven’t already, check out the Not For Sale Causes page here. Donate if you can but also spread the word! This business can only succeed if there is demand and that is created by us!

Anyone else excited to be a part of this? :)

Miami: Day 3

For the three days that we were in Miami, the weather was consistently dark and super stormy. The last day, though, it let up long enough for us to show Maddie around the city a little bit. We all went downtown Miami and Eddie’s dad gave us a mini driving tour of the area. Then we parked near the water and walked around Bayside. Bayside is an outdoor mall that has a bunch of restaurants, tour boats, and a concert area where there always seems to be someone performing. That day it was a band singing in Portuguese and it turned in to a South American line dancing party. It was pretty entertaining to watch!

After walking around Bayside and getting our coffee/tea fix, we got back in the car and headed towards the ocean. We drove around some more on the way and saw more of the city. It was nice having the day be so overcast because it cooled down considerably once we got closer to the coast.

We eventually stopped off at Lincoln Road and walked around, looking at the shops and walking through a street market that was going on.

After working up an appetite looking at all the delicious looking food in the market, we stopped for pizza at Pizza Rustica. I love trying new places when we travel! We all split a giant ham and basil pizza, which was extremely tasty, albeit the ham was overly chewy. It definitely hit the spot and was a perfect way to finish our city exploration!

Once we finished eating, it was time to go back to the house and prepare to fly back home. A little more visiting with friends and new acquaintances and we were off to the airport!

I love that it’s only an hour and a half flight between Atlanta and Miami. It made it so easy to just go down for a weekend, relax and visit with family, show Maddie some of the city, and be a part of Aner’s birthday celebration!

It was definitely a very sweet weekend :)
